Bayonne Salon Owners Team Up for Autism Fundraiser

Picture
In the true spirit of giving back to their community, three Bergen Point hair salons joined forces to help raise funds for the construction of the New Life Skills Centerer for children with autism at Washington Community School.  On March 27, 2011, the owners of About You Salon, The Cutting Cafe' and Downtown Haircutters opened their doors to hold a charity Cut-a-Thon.  All proceeds from this event were donated to The Simpson Baber Foundation, who is funding the construction of the Life Skills Center.  Nadine Dabrowski, owner of About You Salon said, “The Life Skills room is a much needed addition to Washington School.  It will provide a safe and effective learning environment for students with autism and learning disabilities.  About You is delighted to team up with two other downtown salons for this wonderful fundraiser. We feel very lucky to be able to do something that we love while giving back to the community.”

Mario Veldez, owner Downtown Haircutters states “Not only is it great being a part of the Bayonne Community, but also being part of a professional community that comes together for our children!”

In addition to stylish, professional haircuts, raffles for great prizes were held throughout the day.  Flora Ropas, owner The Cutting Café said, "The team of the Cutting Café are proud to bond with our fellow artists to commit in helping children with special needs".
